Do I Have to See the Same Marijuana Professional as Last Time?
No, you can book an appointment with any provider so please pick the time that is most convenient for you! At CannabisMD TeleMed all marijuana doctors and providers are licensed with the Board of Medicine and registered with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy to issue written medical cannabis (marijuana) certificates so you can book an appointment with any of them.
All that is required is that you have an unexpired Virginia medical marijuana card, an unexpired medical cannabis certificate, and your photo ID to enter a Virginia medical marijuana dispensary.
Can I Start Using My Certificate Immediately?
If your Virginia Medical Marijuana Card is not expired then you can begin using your new medical cannabis certificate immediately after your appointment. The majority of the dispensaries will accept a electronic copy of this certificate which is emailed to patients as soon as they are approved by a marijuana practitioner.
When your medical marijuana card is 45 days or less from expiration you will be able to use this new medical marijuana certificate to renew your card online at the Virginia Board of Pharmacy’s Website. The VA Board of Pharmacy will also send you an email notification of when it is time to renew your license so please keep an eye on your email.
Will I Get a Physical Marijuana Card in 2022 in Virginia?
No, the Virginia Board of Pharmacy is no longer sending out physical cards unless a patient specifically requests one for reasons other than visiting a dispensary such as employment purposes or your PCP requiring a physical copy of file at their office.
If you would like a physical medical cannabis card mailed to your address then you will need to reply back to the Board of Pharmacy email when they send you your electronic medical marijuana card.
